Since the start of my summer routine on May 28, 2016 I have lost 20 lbs. and counting. With the help of a little Woo during my third summer in the gym and some better food choices, I have become a happier and healthier person! Thanks!
Woo Kickboxing Academy has changed my life. All my life my reason for why I was overweight was because "its my genetics, this is how I'm supposed to be." I now know, this is not true. I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember... I tried many diets and fads and it wasn't until I found this community of determined, challenging, encouraging and motivating people (The Woo Family) that I found the strength mentally and physically to make the change I've always longed for. About 7 months and 40 lbs later I found that I had made achievements that I never knew were possible for myself. I struggled with back pain, low endurance and overall body image issues.... Those have all disappeared. I feel confident, healthy and ready to take on new challenges I never imagined I would do.
I joined Woo in October of 2013 overweight, severely asthmatic and unhappy. I had been a 3 sport athlete in high school and a college softball player but since graduating in 2010 I struggled to find something that would get me to push myself again like I had back in school at practices. My first class there was awesome! It was challenging and I was exhausted by the end of the hour but felt an amazing sense of accomplishment. I felt this largely in part that despite wanting to take breaks because it was getting hard, Barbara and Roger push you and motivate you to keep going, even if it is at your own pace. "I can do this if I make myself do this!" That's the phrase Barb repeats over and over until you believe it yourself. I woke up sore the next day but more excited than ever to go back the next night!
I went to the classes throughout the year working on improving my cardio but it wasn't until June 2014 that I sat down with Barb and began setting up private sessions to work on my specific goals. I am a sports oriented person and so my private sessions soon turned into kick boxing sessions with Roger twice a week. I finally found that drive I had been looking for and fell in love with not just the kick boxing class, but kick boxing and MMA sport as well!
In December 2014 I had lost some weight throughout the year but never focused much on my diet (I'm a super picky eater). I had found a 12 week transformation challenge online and expressed my interest in being able to do it with Barb. She immediately helped me set up an appointment for a body stat and a meal plan. Next was the workout program, she helped me figure out a lifting schedule as well as using the kick boxing class and private sessions as my cardio workout. I was able to complete the 12 week challenge and saw amazing results for myself! I couldn't have done it without the support from Barbara and Roger and the whole Woo Kick boxing family. They have inspired me to keep going and improving my health and to keep striving for more! I love the family environment and support of everyone that goes there! At this point I am in better shape than I ever was in school and down nearly 50lbs. I also realized that I can't remember the last time that I needed an inhaler or had trouble with my asthma. I got more benefits than just weight loss since joining Woo!
