Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport system which emphasises in ground fighting. Students will learn how to take the fight to the ground where they'll use techniques and submissions to either gain dominant positions or submit their opponents with chokes or joint manipulations. This allows smaller individuals to defeat much larger opponents through technique and leverage. All MMA fighters incorporate BJJ into their training nowadays.
The Brazilian Top Team (BTT) is an academy specialized in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. The academy was established in April 2000 by Murilo Bustamante, Ricardo Libório, Mário Sperry and Luis Roberto Duarte, former-members of the Carlson Gracie Academy, to develop and create new training techniques for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, submission grappling and mixed martial arts (MMA). Now there are BTT affiliate schools all across the world!
Woo Kickboxing Academy is an Affiliate School of Brazilian Top Team. Headed by Professor Roger Woo who holds the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at BTT. He has developed a specific curriculum to help you reach your ranks in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Come see why we have the one of the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu programs for Adults & Children in the Orlando area!
Practitioners of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu wear a uniform called a "Gi" comprised of a jacket, pants and belt. No-Gi uniforms are just shorts and a rash guard. The BJJ ranking system is a means of signifying a practitioner's increasing levels of technical knowledge and practical skill within the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Colored belts that are worn as part of the uniform are awarded to the practitioner. The ranking goes as follows: White, Blue Purple, Brown, then Black Belt. Students will earn stripes (total of 4) in between each belt rank until their next promotion.

Sport Jiu-Jitsu competitions are held all over the world now. While some people have no desire to compete, others want to test themselves to see where they stand in the BJJ community. At Woo, we can help you with competition training as most BTT students always medal when they compete. This is because of the attention to detail of the techniques, constant drilling and live rolling done here at BTT.
Our Youth BJJ Program is for children ages 6-14. Our kids are taught the core principles of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but to have fun at the same time. Learning self defense, discipline, respect, humility, and perseverance are some of the things our program offers. They will be taught how to deal with bullies and how not to bully others. Their exercises have techniques hidden within them so they're having fun while drilling their moves. We also have one of the best Children's BJJ Competition team around!
Our BJJ Program was developed with a structured curriculum. Classes begin with a good warm-up followed by technical lessons and partner drilling. Drilling teaches the principles of the art and helps the student with muscle memory of the techniques they've learned. Beginners will end class with live positional drilling and more advanced students will end with instructor supervised, live sparring.
